Microsoft ups the certification ante

MISSISSAUGA, Ont. — Beginning in January 2001, it will be even harder to become a Microsoft Certified Trainer (MCT). Come that date, according to Microsoft Canada, all trainers will be required to obtain either Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer (MCSE) or Microsoft Certified Systems Developer (MCSD) credentials in addition to passing their requisite MCT exams.

Less pain, more train with Trak-It

CITRUS HEIGHTS, Calif. — Trak-It Solutions Inc. is offering software to streamline the administration of employee training programs. Trak-It Train has been developed to assist departments with monitoring students' progress, needs and overall departmental compliance with government and legal regulations. It aims to reduce time spent monitoring and recording the status of employees' progress, freeing up trainers to spend more time actually training.

e-Learning portal trains on the go

OTTAWA — eVisioninc.com has launched an "e-Learning" portal site (www.evisioninc.com) that will provide worldwide access to online training. This site is based on Learn2University — an outsourced library of more than 200 online, multimedia tutorials, owned and hosted by Connecticut-based Learn2.com. The library caters to a range of soft skills and computer user/technical skills.

HP offers books on printers, scanners

MISSISSAUGA, Ont. — Hewlett-Packard (Canada) Ltd. has announced three project-oriented books aimed at those who want to get the most from their printers, scanners and digital imaging equipment. The books contain explanations of the technology, a review of products from manufacturers (not just HP) and hands-on projects.
